Sin Garbage

“Your boasting is not good.

Do you not know that a little leaven

leavens the whole lump of dough?

Clean out the old leaven

so that you may be a new lump,

just as you are in fact unleavened.

For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed.

Therefore let us celebrate the feast,

not with old leaven

nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness,

but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.”

1 Corinthians 5:6-8

Dear Father in heaven,

I cannot imagine how ugly my sin must seem to You. Even my attempts to be good aside from You are nasty in Your sight. Forgive me.

  • Thank You for providing a way for me to come to You even with my sinful past.
  • Thank You for paying such a costly redemption price for me.
  • Thank You for promising me an eternity in heaven with You.

Help me focus on You instead of all the clutter and trash here on earth.

So many things are

distracting, and

of no eternal value.

Help me toss them out

that I may focus clearly on You,

my Redeemer from slavery to sin,

my Provider in the wilderness,

my only hope for the future.

I long to worship You in sincerity and in truth every step of my today and all my remaining days.

In Jesus’ name I pray,
