Trust God When the Odds Are Against You

Then Asa called to the LORD his God and said,

“LORD, there is no one besides You to help in the battle

between the powerful and those who have no strength;

so help us, O LORD our God,

for we trust in You,

and in Your name have come against this multitude.

O LORD, You are our God;

let not man prevail against You.”

“For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth

that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.”

2 Chronicles 14:11, 16:9a

Dear God,

Thank You for this example of King Asa. His army of 300,000 was small in comparison to the army of a million men and 300 chariots that came against him. Wisely, he trusted in and cried out to You.

Help me to remember today, that

Let me not wait until I am desperate,

but call on You moment by moment for Your instruction.

Let me not make decisions without seeking and listening to You first.

I long to lean on You in every aspect of my life today, and will totally trust You to guide my every step.

Later, Asa’s testimony was tarnished when he foolishly used his own devices with money and politics and wars returned to the land.

Thank You for reminding me that Your eyes see my heart.

Thank You for reminding me Who holds all power.

May I never look away from You,

but rely on Your name alone.

I pray in Jesus’ name,

Amen.
