Eternal Focus

“For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and

some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith

and pierced themselves with many griefs.

But flee from these things, you man of God, and

pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness.

Fight the good fight of faith;

take hold of the eternal life to which you were called,

and you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”

1 Timothy 6:10-12

Most gracious Father in heaven,

How often I have been lured by things money can buy. My heart aches to think of the distractions I have allowed to take root in my heart. Out of Your abundance of love and mercy and grace, and because of the blood of Jesus, please forgive me.

I not only see the dangers of longing for wealth, I truly long to rid my heart from those earthly temporal thoughts and look instead to those eternal things to which You have called me. Father, give me direction as I pursue You and Your righteousness.

Today, let my mind be filled with godly pursuits,

filled with faith in You,

love for You and those around me.

Lead me to paths and plans that are Your will for me.

Father, may I never rely on things here on Earth

to the neglect of You and my eternity with You.

I need not trust in wealth because I trust You with my today.

I trust You with my eternity.

I pray in Jesus’ name,
