“For whoever wishes to save his life
will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s
will save it.”
Mark 8:34, 35
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for giving Your life to pay for my sin. Forgive my tendency to ask for more. Forgive my greedy heart for seeking more comfort, less pain, longer life when You left the comfort of Heaven to suffer on my behalf as my example. Instead of seeking Your comfort, You fed the hungry, healed the sick, and taught those who would listen all the way to the cross.
I want to have that kind of heart today.
I want to cast aside any thoughts or actions
that are selfishly designed for me and
instead look for ways to further Your kingdom.
I want to be so obedient to You and Your will for me today
that it is as if I am following You to the cross.
I want to be obedient to the point of death
in defense and proclamation of the gospel.
Give me strength
and guidance today to follow You
and You alone.
I pray in the name of and
for the sake of Jesus,
Who willingly gave His life for mine,
