Light dispels Darkness
“And His father and mother were amazed
at the things which were being said about Him.
And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary His mother,
“Behold, this Child is appointed for the fall and rise of many in Israel,
and for a sign to be opposed
—and a sword will pierce even your own soul—
to the end that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.”
Your Holy Spirit revealed to Simeon that Jesus was the long-awaited Messiah, “A LIGHT OF REVELATION TO THE GENTILES, And the glory of Your people Israel,” just as You revealed to Isaiah long before. Your coming in flesh to dwell among us brought light to a people walking in darkness. Today there is so much darkness, where Your light is needed to expose the evil that hides in every corner.
Those who receive Your light are ridiculed and opposed, just as You were. Father, help me stand firmly in Your light today, while those who oppose You, oppose and challenge me. Help me boldly proclaim the truth even when the darkness of hostility of those who do not understand, surrounds me.
I rejoice that in You is life, and the life is the Light of men!
I rejoice in any suffering for Your name sake, for You have taught that that brings me blessing, “because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.”
I rejoice that You have given me light and I no longer walk in darkness! May Your light shine through me today, that I will be a beacon to one still stumbling in the darkness.
I pray in Jesus name,
