Strong in faith

“For this reason it is by faith, in order that it may be in accordance with grace,
so that the promise will be guaranteed to all the descendants,
not only to those who are of the Law, but also to  those who are of the faith of Abraham,
who is the father of us all, (as it is written, “A FATHER OF MANY NATIONS HAVE I MADE YOU”) in the presence of Him whom he believed, even God,
who gives life to the dead
and calls into being that which does not exist.
In hope against hope he believed, so that he might become a father of many nations
according to that which had been spoken, “SO SHALL YOUR  DESCENDANTS BE.”
Without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body,
now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old,
and the deadness of Sarah’s womb;
yet, with respect to the promise of God,
he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith,
giving glory to God,
and being fully assured that what God had promised,
He was able also to perform.
Romans 4:16-21

Almighty God and Father,

Through his faith and obedience to You, Abraham was counted as righteous. He considered that You promised he would be the father of many nations, and yet he and Sarah were both well past child bearing age. While he knew it was impossible humanly, he trusted Your ability to perform Your promise.

Forgive me when I try to take into my own hands that which You have promised to do.

May my faith be strong as Abraham’s. Even though may years passed without the promise being fulfilled, he remained faithful to You and received the promise. It was not a lack of faith when he considered just how great a miracle it would require for You to fulfill Your promise. It was great faith looking to You as completely able to perform such a great miracle.

By faith today I approach Your throne, knowing You promise to hear my prayer.

By faith today, I rest in the promise of my justification, my salvation, and my eternity.

By faith today, I will listen to Your Holy Spirit within me to guide my path, even before You show me where it will take me.

By faith today, I will  take up the shield of faith with which I will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one who seeks to devour me.

By faith today, I do not loose heart as my outward body grows older and loses strength, I look by faith to the eternal things to come that will never decay.

  • My faith reminds me of Your omnipotence.
  • My faith reminds me the victory is won, and You prevail.
  • My faith reminds me to stand firm in Your strong and mighty hand knowing You will act on my behalf.

In Jesus’ name I pray,

Amen.
