God provides

“He found a fresh jawbone of a donkey,
so he reached out and took it and killed a thousand men with it.
Then Samson said,
“With the jawbone of a donkey,
Heaps upon heaps,
With the jawbone of a donkey
I have killed a thousand men.”
When he had finished speaking, he threw the jawbone from his hand;
and he named that place Ramath-lehi.
Then he became very thirsty, and he called to the LORD and said,
“You have given this great deliverance by the hand of Your servant, and
now shall I die of thirst and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?”
But God split the hollow place that is in Lehi
so that water came out of it.
When he drank, his strength returned and he revived.
Therefore he named it En-hakkore,
which is in Lehi to this day.”
Judges 15:15-19

Dear Father,

You gave Samson extraordinary physical strength to defeat the enemy. Just after he boasted of his great feat, he became weak with thirst. He sought You again and You provided water for him. How great You are!

You gave him strength and ability to defeat a thousand men. Yet, in his moment of physical weakness with dehydration, he questioned if You abandoned him to die. The Hebrews saw Your mighty hand at work in Egypt, then when they had no water, thought You abandoned them to die.

Forgive me when I do the same thing. Forgive me when I know You are with me, I have seen Your mighty hand at work, yet I am so distressed I question Your ability to provide what I need.

Father, thank You for

reminding me of my human frailties and

reminding me of Your complete omnipotence

over every situation.

  • Help me to remember to look to You in every situation, before I fall into despair.
  • May I always see Your hand at work, and give You praise in every matter.

I long to trust You completely

with every situation that You place before me today,

and to be used by You to draw another to Your strong and mighty hand.

Thank You providing the living water that wells up within me that I will never be without You!

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.
